Soborg Armchair - Steel Frame
In 1952 Mogensen expanded the Søborg series with a steel framed chair. Working with steel was an exception in Mogensen’s work, but the execution is typical of Mogensen. By adding features like the slightly coned legs, Mogensen used techniques from the cabinetmaker’s tradition in the execution of the steel.
This steel-framed version of Søborg constitutes a design that the designer viewed as a reflection on international modernism. The generously wide seat and back with optional upholstery adds character to the design while providing for many hours of use. Named "Comeback of the Year" in 2014 by the Danish design press, Søborg has already appeared in several highly profiled restaurants across Copenhagen and Europe.
