PK22 Chair - 60th Anniversary Edition

Poul Kjaerholm for Fritz Hansen
Regular price $5,512.00

Description:

This autumn the Republic of Fritz Hansen pays tribute to designer Poul Kjærholm and his first collection from 1956 with this special edition PK22 Lounge Chair. Together with the PK61 60th Anniversary Coffee Table, this limited edition set reflects Kjærholm's uncompromising attitude towards extremely high quality and craftsmanship.

The 60th Anniversary PK22 features Royal Nubuck, which is 100% pure aniline leather manufactured exclusively from the finest European hides. Each chair is unique and bears the special characteristics and marks of a natural product.

Nubuck is buffed on the surface, giving it a velvet look. Over time, the surface will become shinier and the color will lose its intensity, depending on use and placement. The PK22 Anniversary Chair is produced in the color Stone, which is a beautiful, rich brown earth color that compliments the satin brushed steel frame, which itself has an anthracite-colored zinc coating.

Upon its introduction sixty years ago, the Fritz Hansen PK22 Chair was an immediate commercial and critical success. In 1957, the chair was awarded the Grand Prix at the Milan Triennale, the world's premier design fair. The prize catapulted Kjaerholm's career and immediately he became a name on the international scene and has enjoyed this position ever since.
