LM92 Metropolitan Chair by Larsen and Bender Madsen
Designer: Larsen + Bender Madsen (1950).
Manufactured by Carl Hansen & Son.
The Metropolitan Chair first appeared in 1950, but it wasn't until the chair was featured at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC for the 1961 exhibit "The Arts of Denmark" that it earned its distinctive name. Brothers Larsen and Bender Madsen painstakingly designed and developed the Metropolitan in the finest wood and leathers and the result is a sight to behold.
Originally intended as a conference chair, the Metropolitan Chair is equally at home in the dining room, living room or office.
While not as famous as some of Carl Hansen & Son's other designers, Larsen and Bender Madsen earned numerous awards and their furniture is featured at museums around the world.
