Product Information
AJ-25-SU Charlottenborg 2-pers. sofa is designed by Arne Jacobsen and handmade by Indonesian sustainable rattan. The sofa is made in the colour natural, which is original and suitable for every occasion. The fine bindings in the seat and back are made by skilled wicker workers. The original armchair was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1936 and shown for the first time at Charlottenborg's spring exhibition in 1937. Later the chair was extended to this 2-seater sofa. The original chair was called AJ 237 and was part of a series of original wicker chairs. The curving forms, which later became very characteristic of Arne Jakobsen's many famous chair designs, can already be traced in first pieces of furniture. The couch has a quite untraditional shape, where the elegant curved back of solid rattan becomes one with the armrests, both of which are beautifully integrated into the bottom of the couch. In addition to the rattan frame, the sofa is fitted with a firm padded seat that comes in many different durable fabric variants. The elegant and comfortable sofa is a beautiful contribution to any modern home, adding a natural element. In fact, the original Charlottenborg chair is reportedly Arne Jacobsen's favourite armchair in his famous cottage on the Bay of Sails. The couch is made in the material Manau & Tohiti rattan. A cushion can be purchased for the back in any optional fabric, sewn on our Danish sewing department. We also offer to sew cushion in your own fabric, please contact us for more information about material use.
