Created in 1958, this iconic chair began as an experimental project in Jacobsen's garage, where he meticulously shaped wire and plaster to achieve its distinctive cocoon-like silhouette – a testament to his artistic vision and innovative spirit.

The chair's ergonomic design features a pioneering construction method where cold-cured foam is molded to create the signature shell, then masterfully upholstered to maintain its fluid, organic form. This sophisticated structure is mounted on a star-shaped aluminum base with a 360-degree swivel mechanism and tilt function, allowing users to create their own private sanctuary within any space.

Originally commissioned for Copenhagen's Royal Hotel, the Egg Chair revolutionized modern furniture design by proving that functional seating could also serve as architectural sculpture. Its enveloping form offers both visual and acoustic privacy, making it particularly well-suited for contemporary open-plan environments, from elegant home interiors to prestigious commercial spaces.
