Coppia Table Lamp

The Coppia Table Lamp by Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt for Gubi is a sculptural twin-bulb design that walks the line between functional lighting and pure art. Named for the Italian word "couple," Coppia celebrates dualities—bringing together stainless steel and plexiglass in an elegantly contoured form that sits at the intersection of craft, design, and sculpture.

Two sets of plexiglass discs in complementary sizes are pinned within a curved band of tempered, brushed bronze stainless steel, creating a structure that's both fluid and geometric. The discs soften and diffuse light from the central bulbs, casting beautiful reflections on the metal surface, while strategic openings where the folded metal joins invite you to peer inside and appreciate the layered depth of the design.

Coppia marks Gubi's first use of plexiglass—a material that has become Fonnesberg Schmidt's signature. Lighter than glass and easily shaped, it brings color and high-shine finish that contrasts beautifully with the hard, matte surface of brushed bronze steel. The result is simple and minimalist while also being playful and decorative—a piece that influences ambiance through color, shape, and the meeting of contrasting materials.
